Holy Crap, I have a new Ford Explorer too, Wow, don't think the make or model mattered in that accident.

Yet we know from reading such article before that many times they are not accurate, and they love to lay the blame on 18 wheelers.

    And if:

"The crash started when a pickup truck and the trailer it was hauling overturned, spilling used computer equipment across eastbound Interstate 10, about 10 miles from the Louisiana state line, Poulos said."

this did not happen all would be well. I wonder what caused this pickup truck pulling a trailer to overturn.

To many make up their mind who is guilty from only articles written by reporters who seems not to care about 18 wheelers the the least bit.

MHP Officer in video said it happened 11 minutes after midnight. Who else is willing to bet fatigue played a role in either, or both, the Explorer losing control & the semi failing to stop? :biggrin_25518::biggrin_2557:

According to news reports the truck driver from Miami FL, plowed into traffic that was stopped for the 1st accident. There is no good reason
for something like that to ever happen. Obviously he wasn't paying attention to what was in front of him. He wont be going home for a long
time to come. They usually wont let an out of state truck driver post bail to get out of jail. always put on your emergency flasher lights when
you have to slow down for slowed traffic or an accident in front of you to alert drivers coming up behind you that there is a problem ahead.

Perhaps combined with some distracted driving, being "zoned out", sleepy, etc. Maybe add in several out-of-spec brakes or cracked air line or diaphragm? The list of potential contributing factors is long in such a scenario.

The same sort of thing happened ,a few months ago, in Ct right in front of the weight station on Rt 95 South, near New London. 2 kids and 1 or 2 adults died as a result of a Gold Medal truck running into stopped traffic. There is a slight hill there but I can't see how he missed the stopped traffic. My boss is friends with the driver and said there were no charges against the driver. Maybe someone can post the accident ?
