Once again with the hyperbole,"The vast amount of the time", that's utter bollocks. As stated before, no pressure to drive in bad weather if your uncomfortable. Loads of time to get there and if you call your going to be late, no problem whatsoever. Have to say the trucks I see driving badly aren't fedex, normally someone else. And yes your point is very simply put!

Yup. That was the attitude from management and supervisors when I worked in a FedEx Ground sort facility. Getting the package there is priority number one. If the package makes it intact...that's just a bonus.

They wanted those trailers unloaded as quickly as possible (I primarily unloaded trailers). They didn't give a #### how far you had to throw the packages at the conveyor belt to accomplish the task in the smallest amount of time possible (rather than carefully walk/run the packages from 20'+ inside the trailer). $2,000+ Apple computer? Toss/throw/skid the package 20'+ towards the belt. :biggrin_25510: Package with "Fragile" sticker? Give that one a first class flight up towards the belt too.

I couldn't guess how many damage claims resulted from those **** heads rushing people to unload the trailers at a ridiculous pace. There seemed to be no ability to grasp the concept... "maybe we would actually save money if we took an extra 10-20 minutes to unload a trailer carefully/properly...rather than damaging expensive items by needlessly rushing kids that are making $8.25/hr and just want to avoid getting #####ed at." That and "how long are you going to keep customers when their freight is arriving damaged on a regular basis?"

Seeing the lack of care that went into loading the trailers on the other end...I was able to reach the conclusion that my facility didn't have a monopoly on dysfunction.

I see that Fed Ex just had another roll over accident up in Mahwah NJ, on I-287 yesterday. It is Supposed to be the busiest day of the year for Fed Wrex.
Packages are dumped all over the highway. They are cleaning up the mess so that all of the packages will be delivered by Christmas. Par for the the course.

IMO they'd save themselves a lot of grief if they went to 53's instead of sets. Sets need a steady hand and are no place for hack job buffoonery at 70 mph.

It don't matter if they're pulling doubles or straight 53's....they will find a way to do what they do best...Roll over..

i used to deliver next door to the fed ex term at keasby nj a lot and seems like everytime i went in there they would have a new wreck sittin out back ...and i delivered to theyre memphis term once and watched a guy fueling his truck at a single pump , when it was time to fuel the other tank he just opened the doors and threw that greasy fuel hose over the seats .

Any time I see one of those Fedex wiggle wagons they are always doing something stupid. I remember I think it was last winter here that one of their expert drivers entered an on-ramp and promptly rear ended another truck killing the fedex guy if i remember right.

I came up on Ground in the slow lane on 71 heading towards Columbus. I was in the middle and dove into the hammer lane as I went around him. thought I'd be a wise guy and maybe piss him off. :)
