They hire a lot of temp drivers this time of year, but then again so does Franz, UPS... Franz and UPS might put there temps in the straight trucks rather than the A train double/triples. And Im sure Craigslist was 70% at fault, ;)

Doesn't FedEx Ground have the "ATA President Safety Award" sticker on their trailers?

Hi Chinatown, oh, don't kid yourself, I'm sure UPS loses plenty, but I'm sure when it happens, there's no reporters allowed.

FedEx has a mandatory average speed requirement for their shipments. I hauled a couple of contracted loads for them. For us the mandatory average speed was 47.5 mph from dispatch to delivery. I've heard from a couple people that direct FedEx ground contractors have a mandatory average speed requirement of 66mph. No wonder why they drive crazy, it mandated by FedEx.

The sad part is, most of the fed ex ground drivers are just plain idiots(I witnessed 2 of them with DVD players on the dash), and fed ex freight think they are entitled to drive like ********s because of supposedly higher pay. Ups and the ltl companies all have unions(teamsters) because any other outfit would've fired their moron drivers in the first month.

Hi slowpoke, actually, I know from experience, line haul can be an incredibly boring job. These driver's do the same thing everyday, or night. These driver's do anything to make the time pass. I'm sure DVD players are expressly forbidden and those driver's sneak them into the truck.
