The comment under the video says that the other driver told him to "have sex and travel".....I might'a had to give that other driver a good ol' fashioned southern ### stompin'!

I am gonna be first to point out that the driver who was cut off didn't really react correctly..... I think he took too long to make his braking and downshifting... You can clearly see the other truck (b-train) coming out at around 1:30 and he didn't start slowing down (saying woah!!) until 1:38... Why did it take him almost 10 seconds to start making a move into slowing down??? He still pulled off a good recovery, but it wouldn't have been that close had he been scanning around and noticed this 8 seconds prior.. Like I said not putting down his recovery, but it could have been better...

The other guy is no doubt an idiot and 100% as fault. He should have never been coming out that close to the other truck... Some guys just can't wait I guess or are bad a judging other vehicle speeds.. I am not in a hurry and I won't chance trying to get out to save a few seconds on my day.. Just not worth it.. I would have ripped that driver a new a-hole, just like I hope the other driver did in this video..

"Expectations". Probably x2. (10 seconds seems a little long from here, but we agree he wasted a lot of time before braking.)

Our driver probably expected the nitwit to turn R, or nitwit would not have been pulling out with a rig bearing down on him at-speed.

The nitwit probably expected, from the signal of our driver, our driver was preparing to turn L, so he would be dropping speed to almost a stop.

Still, it bears repeating: Visual perception is NOWHERE near as reliable as it seems, and objects approaching ~head-on(/) offer only an apparent change in size as a clue to the rate of closure, and the rate of that change of size is NOT linear, as motorists expect.

LOL So I am a know it all and a know it all because I just put my opinion based on what I see... I really don't know where you get off saying I am a know it all because of one post I made that I 100% believe make's sense... Has nothing to do with what "knowing it all"... You must be pretty narrow minded to jump on someone and call them a "know it all" just because they stated an opinion. You just sound someone who thinks there is only one right and one wrong, and the guy that things there is only one way to get something done..

I am a driver who works in a VERY busy city both on the highway and city streets hauling anywhere from 90,000lbs to 130,000lbs with way more vehicles on the roads then they can even handle... I am ALWAYS on the look out for unexpected things to happen, so that if they do happen I am ready.. No offence but I would have done things differently then the driver in the video, that is just me and we all have different ways of doing things... That doesn't make me wrong or the driver in the video wrong.. I am not narrow minded like you Grouch.. If I seen a guy moving into the lanes REGARDLESS of which way is he going I am gonna start to slow down as soon as I see him moving from the intersection.. So what if he is making a right turn, you should assume that he is going to come into the lane near you, so I would start slowing down.. The truck is all the way into the street before the guy in the video is slowing down... Being in the City especially the inner streets I am always looking out for situations just like this..

So Grouch no I am not "know it all"... I am always learning new things and I would never claim to know everything cause we are always learning.. I don't have 50 years like you, I only have 11 years but I don't need to have a bunch of years to learn a lot of information.. Nor so I need it for something as simple as this situation, you should know what to do in situations like this within the first year at least... Like I said I didn't say they guy did it wrong, I just said I would have done it this way and asking why he took so long to make a reaction.. It's a honest question maybe there isn't something I am seeing...

In the end the guy didn't get into an accident and avoided hitting the guy.. So whatever he ended up doing it worked.. As long as you don't hit the other vehicle then you did your job and not smack up the truck..

You don't know what you would have done. You can "Monday morning quarterback" all you want to, but when it comes down to reality, you cannot say what you would have done. Do you go through each day without making mistakes?? I highly doubt it. As I look back on my life and the actions that I took on some issues, I say to myself, "why did I do it that way"??

"Never judge a man, until you walk in his shoes"

A major accident was averted, narrowly, by the actions of this driver. From my perspective there is no room for a "second opinion". I give the driver A plus!!!!

Based on this dashcam recording, I am sitting here in amazement wondering if the old hand was lucky, or maybe, just maybe, he reacted and made an evasive move to avoid an accident. In any event, the old boy was able to continue his day, or maybe even his life. Do they teach that accident avoidance in steering wheel holder school?
