My hat's off to all you First Responders. I don't know how many times I could handle a scene even close to this.

such a tragedy, one reason I like to keep a very good space between me and the car in front when at all possible.
My heart goes out to the family, as a father of 2 little girls I always have huge sympathy when it comes to kids losing their lives. -
Curious as to why she was parked on the freeway. Even if the car stalled or ran out of fuel, there is usually enough momentum to coast completely off a freeway whether it be on the shoulder or the median side.
Also how does a truck driver not know the difference between a moving and a stopped vehicle on a 70 mph. road. And what was he doing in that lane at 5pm. on a Saturday?
Yes; I know I think too much. What a horrible, horrible deal. -
she was in the worst place (around a left turning curve) she called me, i told her to get out of the car and walk backwards to warn people your car is disabled
thankfully, one of those DOT HELP trucks came and at least pushed her to the right shoulder till i could get there -
Just a whole lot of bad timing going on with this one. Hard to speculate. Lot of things could have happened. Could have been an electrical problem that shut everything off instantly, including the engine and lights. I''m guessing it had gotten dark by that time, and it happened just moments ahead of when a truck would be passing through the same section of road.
It's "lucky" the car didn't catch fire and burn before they were extricated to later die.
Bad situation for all, but be sure they will have no more concerns for the trucker (and carrier] once the lawyers get a hold of the family, and the hurt turns into something else and is directed towards anyone involved, that survived. Fault (or lack of] will soon become irrelevant. I hope that truck driver had "all his ducks in a row" at the time of the incident. -
Unless the car swerved and slammed on the brakes, there is no excuse for running into the back of it. Truck driver was almost certainly outdriving his visibility/attention/braking distance.
tinytim Thanks this. -
exactly what I was thinking, why I like to leave extra room
