Yet another couple of truck crashes with fatalities on I-20 near Tyler, TX. Seems like lately there's at least 1 a week major truck crash. Speed and aggressive driving at play in at least one of these ...

And YET ANOTHER couple of truck crashes that resulted in fires in both situations. But let's keep mandating more crap for the trucking industry, never mind the burning deaths that may result.

Well Texan the major accident on I 94, as alot of these in our area, are due to

whiteout conditions and 4 wheelers that cant figure out how to

safely maneuver out of them. Even with all the knowledge available

people will still follow to close and drive to fast for conditions.

Sad to see up here and you'd be surprised how many happen

    that don't make national news.

No white out conditions here but the speed limit is 75. Most cars run 75-80, a lot of trucks run 75, but most trucks run 65. I'm convinced this 10 MPH disparity is the cause for a lot of crashes. (too much closing and passing going on, with other vehicles doing the same) Traffic density is not terribly high there most of the time, but can be a real issue at times especially on Fridays (bumper-to-bumper traffic jams at 65-75 MPH)

Distracted drivers, everybody's in a hurry, and everybody feels entitled to be first because they are important..

Not just a Texas problem, its a nationwide problem with society in general..

I'm not sure what is up with the TXDOT anyway...I go across I-10 a lot, when it's 3 lanes each way, the speed limit is 65, where it's 2 lanes...75 mph speed limit...not that a speed limit matters to most of the people blowing by me.

It's based on traffic count census. Lot's of traffic? 65. Little traffic? 75 Very little traffic? 80 (Kerrville to near El Paso) And in the case of DFW and surrounding counties, it's an emissions thing that mandates 65 but there has been some talk of reducing this restriction and allowing for 70 on a few stretches of interstate.

my favorite is that toll road around the east side of Austin.......85

I could be locked in at 85 or maybe just a couple more and 4 wheelers are still trying to shove me out of the way or pass me on the right if I'm in the hammer lane..

Is it 85? I know the northern 2/3 is 80, but maybe the segment that runs from the Buda cutoff down to Sequin is 85 but I never run that section. They had to run the speed limit up to make up time for the additional 15 miles and justify the costs vs. going straight through Austin/Roundrock (and assuming otherwise no downtown traffic issues)

I can see radar on the font bumpers soon enough, similar to the ones you see on the rear bumpers for going in reverse in a lot of 4 wheelers.
