Bexar County sheriff's deputies said the 18-wheeler was carrying construction supplies and turned left into the Waterford Park subdivision.
The semi had nearly completed its turn when a Subaru traveling in the opposite direction crashed into the trailer and became wedged underneath, deputies said.

Ouch .subaru guy texting?

It was dark and so it's possible that the driver may not have been paying attention, may not have noticed that truck. That's what we believe happened, since it appeared that it got lodged underneath," Keith said.
so sad....prayers for the family and friends of the car driver....feel bad for the truck driver too....

Sounds like they need to do something with that intersection. Lower speed limits would be the cheapest, most intelligent.
-
I see there is a curve there too, that may have limited visibility for both drivers.
tsavory Thanks this. -
The title of this thread sure is deceiving. Makes it sound like the trucker was to blame.

drvrtech77 and double yellow Thank this.

the trucker had nearly completed his turn tho....possible the 4 wheeler wasnt paying attn, maybe the trucker misjudged the speed of the car, lots of things...yes, it may be the truckers fault, but we ALL know, the majority of the truck/car accidents are the fault of the car driver
Big Don Thanks this. -
The truck had nearly completed his turn. The car hit the trailer, not the tractor. What part of failure to reduce speed to avoid accident don't you understand?
I'm just going by what I read compared to the title of the thread, that's all. We weren't there were we? -
I hate to break it to you, but if you are making a turn across traffic, and you collide with an oncoming vehicle, you ARE going to get a ticket. I'm not saying the other driver didn't have some responsibility as well, but the primary here is the trucker, any way you cut it.
About the only way that would not be the case would be if the oncoming vehicle WAS NOT ONCOMING when the truck started the turn. If that oncoming vehicle came from a parked position, or entered the roadway from a pull out or driveway, AFTER the truck started the turn, then that changes things completely.double yellow Thanks this.
