    As a kid I used to fly down the country roads in hilly Michigan cresting hills at top speed. Than I went into farming and drove a 12 row head combine down the road a few times and had a few cars come flying over the hill with nowhere to go and that drilled into my head from than on that any hill I crested there could be a wall in front of me on the other side.

    I rode with a friends wife up in Michigan a few years ago after not being up there for many years and she was flying over these hilly country roads. I was begging her to slowdown or let me drive or let me out of the car.

    After too many #### years at this game and over 30 yrs as a Certified Motorcycle Safety Instructor....I know all too well that in most Every incident...there is SOMETHING one or mre of the Vehicles could have done to mitigate the magnitude...and I have my thoughts in this..but since most of jumped in the fray...i watched this a#of times now....freezin it at almost every crucial point&there is too much you just cannot tell IF you are being Honest....especially rate of speed at impact....which honestly can be much slower than you think...yes it looks very fast..but probably not near as fast as u think...and obviously the at fault driver is Mt ir very very light...or the results would be Much different...the fact is for the crucial portion there is 53' of Utility blocking n your view....although you can almost be certain the vehicle behind the offending driver pulled right up behind him....also I'll direct Your attention to the spot mirror on the frtshaker...watch the speed movement(&cab bounce) of the vehicle that hit the trailer...it will give you some insight into speed&movement although still not enuff for anything conclusive....so if yall are makin mention of what you may/may not have done in this scenario...in hopes help educate slightly...im all for it...but lets not start the typical arguments about This should have been handled...

    Here's another thought;

    if the truck coming down the hill was indeed able to brake/move right enough to put it into the ditch to his right and squeezed by, but in the same process completely wrecks his truck, his insurance company is going to give him an at fault claim. If this did happen the other guy would not have stayed around for anyone to be able to point the finger at the real reason for what would of been a single vehicle accident.

    The way it turned out the insurance companies will look at it and the truck who turned out will be found at fault and will be replacing the other guy's truck/trailer/cargo also ...

    Had it been a car of people I would say to do anything to avoid hitting it/kill/injure someone. Even if you gotta eat the consequence of looking like a single vehicle accident.

    I really think the driver coming down hill was sidetracked with something else unless he froze up and just went right through it.

    yes because dashcam did not have a stop sign, hence he had the right of way

    maybe mr volvo thought he was first in the intersection before dashccam, but dashcam did not have a stop sign

    That and common courtesy dictates yield to traffic on your right at 4 way stops/lights.

    Also like how Swift just rolled right through it-- got that nanny clock tickin' nothing to see here folks....

    Why are you guys defending the Volvo driver? You really want inpatient guys like him sharing the road?

    1. Dash cam usually have wide angle lenses, making it look closer than it appears.

    2. Volvo didn't have the right of way, he didn't yield to the main road.

    3. Really guys, first you say do not swerved when an animal or 4wheeler cut you off but in this case it seem alright. If he had swerved he could had just roll the truck into the Walmart or even the camera truck. I doubt the Volvo would even stay to check if everybody is ok.

    Also look at the beginning, there's a rv turning right. Also other cars behind it. I rather hit the trailer than a rv with a family

    I don't think anyone is defending him, I think they're just saying maybe the other guy could have saved himself some grief.

    personally, if I'm coming down a hill and see an intersection like that, I'm dropping a gear and easing on thru with jake on, light throttle and ready to brake. I'd rather do that than let some idiot take a wrecking ball to my schedule. Not knowing the speed he was going, it's hard to tell if it could have been avoided, so who knows.
