I fault the truck driver and nobody else.

It wasn't the fault of the cop.
It wasn't the fault of HOS.
It wasn't the fault of elogs.
It wasn't the fault of other traffic that may have made it hard for him to move to the left lane had he not been oblivious to what everyone else saw on the shoulder.

It was the fault of the truck driver.

SHO-TYME and Sether Thank this.

If you think what the truck driver did was okay good luck with a vehicular homicide or manslaughter charges. Gotta love prosecutors.

That was in a construction zone, heavy traffic on the west side of Toledo. Room on the shoulder, as previously stated, trooper stopped to help a disabled motorist. Speed limit there currently is 50 MPH. It is nobody's else but the driver for striking a stopped vehicle. Ohio state law says 'move over' or, if not possible, 'slow down'.

Question to EZK1100 - You feel it's ok for a truck driver to take out a trooper and motorist sitting on the shoulder - even if it's only for a traffic stop?

SHO-TYME Thanks this.

Methinks ez must've been ticketed lately ... Kudos to the trooper for the heads up reaction I agree on jail time for trucker or 4 wheeler that hits a trooper tow truck etc .. Only idiots stay in right lane at a high speed and don't belong on the road
The semi driver was cited? Should have locked them up and thrown the key away. :biggrin_25513:
They need to change the crime list for 'Capital Crimes'...in cases like this, with video proof...the cop should have the right to invoke the death penalty on-site....

Maybe troopers should have deployable stop sticks...pull up behind a car, hit a button, the stop sticks pop out into the next lane...if you don't move over like you are suppose to...4 flats(or more if it's a truck like in this video), and a ticket. After you have to spend $1000(or a lot more)in tires and tickets, the next time you'll think twice about not moving over.

True,,, as much as I disagree with the location that cops sometimes use when they do pull someone over, it's still common sense to at least slow down and get over when you can...what really gets me is these jokers that claim "police cars ain't emergency vehicles".

You did read that the cop stopped to assist a motorist with a dead battery and allowed the motorist to sit in the squad car to warm up. There was no traffic stop. The quality of truck drivers on the road today is getting to be Sub Standard period. this is why there are Multiple pileups every week. Its getting to be a first class joke with the Garbage coming out of "CDL School" my question is who is teaching the instructors?

Evidently EZX1100 has a vendetta for law enforcement officers. Even if reading the link doesn't convince him that the officer was trying to help a stranded and broke down 4 wheeler thus becoming an emergency in the proper lane and not stopping the car he will not be convinced of anything. And what ever happened to the law that says move over 1 lane or slow down to 25mph if approaching an emergency vehicle? You can't fix stupid.

In many states it's all emergency vehicles, motorist assist vehicles, DOT vehicles, basically, if it's got flashing lights on it, MOVE OVER.

We deal with State Troopers at the driving school I work with, they try to teach people to pull to a safe place, and NOT on the left shoulder. But what's the difference between a trooper with a car pulled over and some trucker who passes an On/Off ramp and stops on the shoulder to take a leak?
