A south bound 5 ton truck rear ended a parked 18 wheeler. The accident was on highway 5 near Merritt, BC, Canada. The driver of the 5 ton did survive, and was taken to hospital.

    Holy guacamole for sure!

    BCTrucking379,
Did you see what condition that driver was in? You say he survived (a miracle in itself) but he had to be in critical condition I would assume?

Doesn't look too bad, I think that will buff right out,,,,seriously, where did the 2 guys come from behind the trailer right after the crash? Looks like it broke the hood off the Air Time tractor. Pretty lucky guy in the straight truck. Looks like the old saying is right, "God looks out for fools and little children".

Something that lurks on every highway every day. I guess that "don't park on shoulder except for emergency" applies. Air Time could have been out of power or some other problem, who knows, but hitting a parked vehicle is never a good idea. Bad moment. Those guys are going to be late.

On the video, it looked like this side of the highway kinda had limited area's where there was enough room to get a full size truck all the way off the road...by the way the back of the trailer looked, it sorta' looked like he caught the left corner of the trailer...

Actually, it looks like the cab of the straight truck is pretty much intact. I'm sure the 2 guys were pretty freaked out. I wonder if the bobtail with the yellow lights on was coming to get the trailer, and now there's a much bigger situation going on.

Canada has a problem with trucks going to sleep anywhere they please on the shoulder it's not uncommon to pass a dozen or two trucks sleeping 6 inches off white line at night with lights off and no triangles out ... Bc normaly makes them move but certain guys are used to stopping wherever they please especially in passing lanes just over a rise where you only see them at last second..
