A family car is left mangled after a semi-truck smashed into on I94. As the family was forced to stop, the big rig kept going. They weren't seriously hurt but are now hoping the driver turns himself in.

Gerrick Jackson was on his way home from picking up his 16-year-old daughter Camille from school when a semi truck in the middle lane moved over into Gerrick's lane. He broadsided his car, shoving him and his daughter into the median and the truck ran over the passenger side of the car.

That's bad enough but then, the semi just kept going.

"We didn't get the gravity of it until the car stopped, Jackson said.#

Garrett got out and saw the damage to his car and to his 16-year-old daughter Camille.

"She sustained a head injury, it punctured her ear. Her shoulder and her ribs were hurt and there was a ton of glass in her eye,"

It was a painful injury but Camille still went to school. She had to take her SAT's on Wednesday.#

Gerrick only got a brief description of the semi truck, as being silver, but what really bugs him is that the semi driver didn't stop.#

The law is clear: if you are involved in an accident, you have a duty to stop your car at the scene and wait for the cops to get there. If you don't, you could be headed to jail.

Michigan State Police told us they did investigate at the scene, didn't see any witnesses and did not find the truck. What would Gerrick say to that truck driver, if he comes forward?

Something just doesn't "smell" right about this. Doesn't sound like the cops are looking too hard either!

I agree, Main thing I noticed that there are no rub marks on the paint where the trailer tires started going over the car on the passenger side door. And is it me or is that a clumb of dirt or rust up by the windshield.

The 4 wheeler said "the truck hit me and I bounce of the median and hit the truck"

Now I'm like 60% sure it was the truck driver fault. but you don't bounce off the trailer to the median( which looks pretty wide) and back without a huge momentum. So he was speeding. Maybe to beat the truck while he was already in the process of switching lanes.

Nobody gets hit and stay in the same place so I'm assuming he was really close to the tandem when it happen.

any driver here knows Michigan speed is 10mph LESS than 4 wheelers. So, the truck was switching lanes but the impatient 4 wheeler was probably doing 80-90mph while the truck was doing 60. So he was coming up to the truck really fast. When he realize he wasn't going to make it, instead of just driving on the shoulder to pass he panic (because he was going to fast to react) and hit the wall, then bounce into the tandem. And now crying because he miss jerry springer
