Fog is where you can count on seeing vehicles (of all types) either driving too fast or too slow.
With severely limited visibility... that always makes for a deadly mix.

Here's another news article on it.

I disagree with too slow. If everyone drove within their vision & braking, there would be no accidents. If everyone drove some middling speed, there still would be accidents.

that may sound good in theory, but people do not drive the same,

perfect example,, during a heavy downpour, why are people in the left lane with their 4ways on? i can see pretty good, so i want need to get around them,

this creates the crowding effect, so you back off to keep space and someone comes in between you

a better idea is just shut the roads down when it rains, snows, fogs, ice, wind, debris, etc etc

    no, we cant do that

so lets stop fingerpointing at every accident

it was foggy, and stuff happens

Just slow the f down and keep some darn space...why is it so hard to understand that concept...drive how the conditions dictate instead of trying to be harry f'n hotshot...the ignorance on display out here is appalling.

I drove in a fog most of the day yesterday...started at 5:30am...so drove in it when it was dark and when it was light. Guess what I saw? Trucks running to fast following to close and during daylight hours the amount that were running no lights was sickening.

Wanna make this industry better? Stop making excuses for poor behavior...f'n ignorance.

    Thanks I feel better.

Definitely an O/O. Just by looking at the truck, even if his name wasn't on the door. You just never know if the last time you shut that door, is the last time you will shut that door.

Yep, his name was on the door. I wonder if he would have survived if he hit something besides that brickhouse of a container? The news said the load came loose and killed him, I wonder.

You try and slow down, and be courteous, but then you get a situation like I had coming out of Stauton, Va. last year, freak snow storm, I was in no hurry, but you get these four wheelers that will be doing 25 mph in BOTH lanes, all that does is make a huge pack of vehicles waiting for an accident.

As soon as I got around them I could SAFELY run 55mph, bottom line is, there are just a LOT of people out there that can barely control their vehicle on a clear day with a dry road, throw some adverse, (or seemingly adverse) conditions into it and it's a receipt for disaster.
