Knowing the way the justice system works, after the defendants lawyer files a motion for this, that or the other then the prosecutor files a counter motion dismissing it, then the defendants lawyer files a counter counter motion....yadayadayada. it'll probably be years before anyone hears a word of testimony in this case.

These things never go quickly and seem to always be settled under the radar...

Walmart announced the settlement on its website on Wednesday, saying that the conditions of the settlement are confidential.

Morgan explained that the case was “resolved amicably” in a statement.

“Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families,” Morgan said. “I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably.”

In his own statement, Walmart U.S. President and CEO Greg Foran said that his company “has been committed to doing what’s right” in the process.

“Our thoughts continue to go out to everyone that was involved in the accident,” Foran said. “While we know there is nothing that can change what happened, Walmart has been committed to doing what’s right to help ensure the well-being of all of those who were impacted by the accident. We worked closely with [Morgan’s lawyer Benedict P.] Morelli, and we are pleased to have reached an amicable settlement that ends this litigation. We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved.”

"...we are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved."

Not sorry people were hurt and killed, no, sorry that one of our trucks was involved thereby causing us to open up our pocketbook and shell out millions in cash that otherwise would have been paid in bonuses to our board.

What I would like to know is what happened to the beancounter in operations that put into practice the idea of hiring a driver and then assigning him to a terminal 600 miles from his home, the real cause of this accident. Hire him at GA wages at work him at a terminal with a Delaware cost of living.
    Did he get fired?

    Infosaur and born&raisedintheusa Thank this.

I ran into a UPS local driver on Long Island, he's paid the same as an equivalent driver in Mississippi, where the cost of living must be lower.
But that is a long drive to work.
Me, being OTR. I have the 28 second walk to the truck.
