If at first you don't succeed, back up & try again!

Seriously. Wow. If you hit something, STOP! Figure out WHAT you hit before you move another inch! I thought that'd be common sense and shouldn't HAVE to be said, but apparently not.

What a horrible accident. This driver doesn't use his mirrors otherwise he would have stopped and got out and seen what he ran over.Probably wouldn't have hit him in the first place had he used his mirrors.

This happens too often, drivers really need to slow down driving thru truck stops. And people walking around need to stop waddling right down the middle.

There was a co driver at steel tech in decatur IL not more than 1 month ago who got his trailer tire caught on the side of a boulder. these many boulders are placed to keep trucks on the path they need to stay on & not stray. this driver after wedging a tire against the rock, proceeded to hit to go pedal & turn truck & trailer over right on the lot. now there are sings all over receiving area.. saying if you hit something or think you hit something, get out and look.

I've had people walk behind me as I'm backing. Truck stops, shippers, anywhere.

...I genuinely feel for the family of the driver that was killed, but why in god's green earth would you walk behind a moving trailer?

Seems to me the driver wasn't watching his mirrors. If I see anything move behind my trailer, I go back there and confirm it.

Playing Monday morning quarterback though. It's a tragedy this happened.

When I was at one shipper, I was backing into my trailer and I just happened to notice some idiot walking between me and the trailer. I got out and chewed him a new one and then went and had a long talk with their safety dept. I was looking out the passenger window and just happened to glance back at the driver mirror and saw a glimpse of him. When I chewed him out he admitted he saw me backing up but just kept walking...
