IL: video shows semi truck blown over during storm in Rochelle

Omg i was so close to it last night. The whole night the wind was trying to pull us.

 

anyone remember the video that showed the tornado destroying the Schneider yard in Dallas (?).......would like to see that one again

 

Well hopefully the driver was ok.

Having said that, lots of people do not realize how strong winds are on the southern and western side of tornadoes. They assume (incorrectly) that because the tornado has passed their location, and moving away, that it's safe where they're at. Winds behind and to the south of a tornado, are called inflow winds, and are often just as strong as the winds in and in front of the tornado.

So moral of that little meteorologic lesson....be careful near any visible or suspected tornadoes...winds are surprisingly strong 360 degrees around a supercell thunderstorm..as evident with this video.

Again, hope the driver made it through that safe.

 

I saw them trying to right that truck last night. They had a crane type wreacker out there. There was another one south of this. I was at the Pilot in Rochelle... Slept right through it....

 

That video still makes me say holy *bleep* when you see whole trailers tossed into the air like that...could you imagine if they were hooked to a truck w/drivers inside.

 

I like how his brake lights are lit even after the wheels leave the pavement. Someone get that man some new underwear.

I know this is a little older, but still amazing to watch

 

The one in Dallas really amazed me....considering where Pumpkins yd is....how it dropped down thru their wagons around...then all but turned...missed the hook...jumped over I20....missed the TA...then slammed back down in the open fields....jumped the new warehouses...and came back down in Lancaster....almost like it was lookin down&picking targets.....
