Bainbridge Post Searchlight, GA -
nationally renowned dog trainer from Climax was killed Tuesday when the pickup truck he was in was struck by a wayward semi-trailer truck that ran off the side of Spring Creek Road, causing a violent wreck.
The wreck happened shortly before noon Tuesday near the intersection of Spring Creek Road and Barber Road, about five miles southwest of Bainbridge.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified by Ivey Funeral Home as Fred Burton Dileo of Climax, was stopped in a private driveway waiting for traffic to pass so he could pull out onto the highway, Sgt. 1st Class Eddie Edwards of the Georgia State Patrol's Donalsonville post said.
The semi-trailer truck was filled with manure and was headed north on the highway. According to Edwards, the semi driver may have experienced medical distress, causing him to cross both lanes of traffic and run onto the highway's western shoulder, where it collided with the Chevrolet Silverado 3500.
