First snowfall of the season and there have been numerous accidents reported (1 every minute). There have been numerous transport trucks involved in crashes as well. Just now there is reports of an accident involving a transport truck where the driver was thrown from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene (at Finch and the 400). I will post more once I get info.

Yeah... and I'm trying not to worry here. My buddy runs the 401 outta TO, and I can't reach him this morning. Each hour my message goes unanswered, I worry just a little bit more. Unless he's outta range, it's very unlike him not to respond within minutes... even just to say, "I'm fine."

He's a good driver, though... many, many years on the road... and he assures me that he knows when to drive and when to pull over. So I'm hoping it's signal strength... or that he decided to sack out in the berth... and not that he's in any trouble. <sigh>

LOL Most people here will think you mean Ontario, California!!

They've actually already had snow once this year but not much so there's almost no salt on the roads. First snowfall of the year is always the most dangerous.

We're headed up from New Jersey to New Brunswick. It was 60 degrees and sunny there this morning. It's down to 41 degrees now and dropping fast.

We're driving right into freezing rain in Maine and northern New Brunswick. :( Ugh!! Not fun!!

Don't worry too much if you can't reach your friend for a bit - cell phones are notoriously unreliable when you really need them to work!!

Try sending a text message and see if he'll give you a quick buzz from a pay phone. I find text messages often go through when calls won't. You can text message anyone from your computer - just go to their cell provider's site and find "send text message". It's free for you.

Woohoo! Just got my answer -- he's in Montreal in an ice storm... and not a happy camper at the moment. But I am feeling MUCH better. :yes2557:

So the bad weather evidently extends beyond Ontario.

Just be really careful out there, drivers. Better to lose a few hours by pulling over and sitting it out than losing a rig or getting hurt. Take care and stay safe!

Thanks, minpins! That's what concerned me -- my message was sent via text and he still wasn't responding. Usually, he's pretty prompt.

Sometimes he heads up to the North Bay area and for some reason, we're just out of range there. But he's in Montreal now, and not exactly happy because of the weather. I doubt I'll hear any more from him now 'til the weather clears because he's very focused on what he has to do and he knows I understand that. But at least I know he's safe.

Dang, I worry about that man! LOL
