I was sitting at the computer when i heard a loud crash around 2:45pm 12/03/09. Then i heard sirens, choppers so went to investigate and behold a Jb hunt truck on a road he was not supposed to be on. Appears he ran the stop sign and hit a mini van with 3 kids and an adult driving. look at it for yourself. http://www.cbsatlanta.com/video/21800012/index.html.

That looks like it may have a bad ending. So sorry for the people in that van.

Ok, the video makes no sense. He's perfectly parked on the side of the road. You cannot tell from the story, nor the video, who actually ran the stop sign, or what really happened here. Why are we always so quick to blame the trucker?

Thanks Rick. I guess he was in the wrong here. I hate to hear this, as so many of the media love to paint the the trucker in a bad light.

That's why I looked it up for confirmation . That news chopper should have shown the intersection better .

Exactly, I could't get a good take on what really happened from what was on the video, and the article said that there was no further information.

So sad when this happens. :biggrin_2553:

I live just past the 4 way on that road. there is a small hill with a stop ahead sign, you come over before the stop sign. speed limit is 45 and there is a no thru trucks signs all up and down that road. if you are on I75 get off exit 216 head west on hwy 155 at the first 4 way stop sign trucks are supposed to turn left or right. he went straight and after he top the hill granted he was going under the speed limit, but it appears he did not attempt to apply brakes at all. i am afraid this time it was the truckers fault.:biggrin_25513: webb is the gsp officer, debela is the truck driver.
an article from the griffin daily news.
"Webb, who estimated Debela’s speed at “maybe 35 to 40 miles per hour,” said, “He (Debela) didn’t stop — he didn’t even attempt to stop. The other vehicle (Fain’s Caravan) was traveling westbound on High Falls Road. She stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection. The point of impact was the middle of the intersection.”
