Exactly. Also for the longest time, I thought those signs said "No 102" wide double trailers longer than 28' ".

YES.
Not very often.
and another big YES -
Or something like that. -
You should have been able to get out of that ticket.
next time, just say no pre-trip is required by law since no driving took place, and the time away from the truck was less than 7.5min every time.
This way he can't nail you for the PT, and he can't prove how long you were away from it. Anything taking less than 7.5min doesn't need to be shown on the log.
The cop was just being a jerk. -

Well, I suppose. I still hate being ripped off when I know I am in the right though. The thing about it is, you shouldn't need a legal plan, as he never should have written the ticket for the log or the PT. But... he did give you a break on the restricted route, so I guess it's a trade-off.

I had a situation like you. I was driving at night time through Washington and I missed the turn to weight station. They ran outside and flashed lights at me, but I was already stopping. I guess they had nothing better to do, there was absolutly no other trucks at about 3:30 am. So I stopped, just missing the exit. I came to them, said I am sorry and I want to back up little bit into the exit to weight station or turn around somewhere. He told me to go to next exit, turn around and come back to him. So I did that and was asked to PARK AND BRING PAPERS. He printed about 10 warnings for me about my log book. They were all stupid!!! On one page he said that (my writing) to him Montana looks like Missouri. And my 2 looks like a 7. Stupid stuff like that. To my explinations he didn't lisen. He was talking to me like he was the god of weight stations. And I got a $100 ticket for failing to exit to weight station. -
