What is the rule on a working "CITY" horn?
My air horns work fine but the city horn doesnt do anything.
I can feel the contacts connect in the steering wheel but no sound...

I havent spent time to see whats going on, but I dont hear a 'click' when I depress it...so could be a fuse/relay at this point...

    Is that a violation?

Fix it. It would be a violation upon inspection.

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

    Ah crap. Figures....:biggrin_25521:

I see the horn when I was under the rig...but I have no idea where the relay might be. I really need a repair manual for this truck and a wiring diagram.

The dealer has been good about printing them off for me, when I buy related parts at least but I cant keep asking them....:biggrin_25513:

First off, did you check your fuses?

No, I havent spent any time looking into this. Obviously thats on tap for Saturday...
Of course if its a blown fuse then there could be a reason why it blew..

On my used car, the fuse was missing. So I tossed one in. Each time I hit a bump, the horn blew. So, I naturally figured out why the prior owner had removed it.

In that case, it was the steering wheel. The horn contacts under the airbag had come loose. All I needed to do was remove the airbag and snug them back down.

At least the KW doesnt have crash airbags to deal with....

I was in a inspection once and he said to blow the horn. so I tuted the Air horn and that was it. I am not saying that you have to have a city horn, but He never asked me to tute again.

I agree it's worthless. Nothing gets attention better than wailing on the air horns... but if its worthy of a violation, it needs to be fixed.

I am not giving ANYONE any reason to cite me...:biggrin_25510:

What's really fun is to lay on the air horns going past a golf course or driving range! I use to get some of the dirtiest looks. My second trainer got me started on that. I learned so many useful things from him!

Get the darn horn fixed, even if you never use it. Then you don't have to sweat it.
