I don't suffer from any of the side-effects with maybe the exception of tinnitus (ringing in the ear) which is more like a slight inconvenience as opposed to any debilitating condition. I have owned a construction company for the last 7 years (an economic casualty) and stay physically active, which I'm sure is a plus.

My point in this whole process is that I have been cleared to drive, and have been doing so with no problems for over 20 years. I know I can safely and successfully operate a CMV.

My point, just stating what I read.....dizzy or drowsey is a concern.

So you've drove for 20+ years, but not under the conditions that come with this job.......

No need to be defensive, I hope you do OK !!!

I believe if you are diabetic or have seizures that disqualifies you anyway from obtaining a CDL of any kind. Despite whatever medicine you are taking. I know that if you do need to take narcotics or prescriptions in which are not allowed while driving you must stop driving until a doctors note is issued saying you are done taking the medication. My wife went through that one time.

I have to apologize to you. I didn't mean to sound defensive. Please forgive me.:biggrin_25514:

Your concern is justified. I have not suffered any dizziness or drowsiness as a result of this med usage.

And I agree with you. I haven't driven under the conditions that come with the job. I hope I'm up to the task. It seems I'm the happiest when I'm in a truck. I used to work for a company that sold industrial sewing machines and I was delegated to drive what ever truck we rented or leased when equipment needed to be delivered. It was the one portion of that job I truly enjoyed.

    I won't let you down.

I've talked with those who believe I should omit the med usage altogether. That's not my way. I prefer to be honest and let the record and health history stand. So I listed the med and the reasons for it on my long form and passed the D.O.T. physical.

Chompi- I feel my situation needs to be evaluated separately and not included into some category. I'm not an epileptic and have never had a seizure. FMCSA regulations don't cover all the possibilities regarding medical conditions so I think my situation should be at the least evaluated objectively before they yank my med card.

I appreciate the advice from you and the others on this forum. If trucking isn't meant to be, I'll just have to be content reading about everyone's adventures.

You resurrected a 10 year thread.

It will be better to write your own post under new thread within the drug section so people will not be confused here.

If you are no longer taking medicine and are not visiting doctors for it then it's out of your life. It should be no problem, particular withdrawal symptoms should also be absent.

As a side note, if you say you run out early, there is no doctor in the world that will not decide that you are abusing the medicine and then cut you off. And record the same in certain important records. To Abuse a medicine, (Run out early), divert medicine to someone, or sell it to someone is a felony these days. It is a real problem for you to run out early. No different than a street addict who has to have it. (A craving which is one of your new problems when you run out early. Taking too soon...)

If you do not have a medicine today or any day now currently. I would not even talk about it. It's not in your life today therefore its not a problem to any employer.

I have tried xanax 10 years ago for about a month. I found it caused more problems than it solved and stopped it. As far as I am concerned, it is a medicine I am not concerned about at all. It does not exist. However for you to say you run out of something early, before your next dose. There is only one conclusion. A form of craving. If I took away your pill bottle and say you cannot have another for 8 hours, I will bet you that you will be at my door asking for another after say 4 hours. That's craving that makes you run out early. When the doctor (Or worse, Law enforcement) counts your pills against your refill date and come up short, then the conclusion must be made that you are addicted. And you will be tapered from the medicine or detoxed medically for a week or so in a hospital. And essentially kicked out of further treatment with that medicine from anyone licensed to do so.

That's the short form anyway. There is alot more with you. If I were you. And you do not take medicine like that today, tomorrow or any day. Shut up about it and do not volunteer that information. It's ancient history. That way, there is no unnecessary complication or halt made to your efforts to be gainfully employed in trucking or some other jobs.

Unfortunately since xanax helps with stress people are unable to handle in life, you will find that trucking is a VERY stressful form of work.
