I really couldn't find any threads that were for just generalized legality questions for me and others to post our questions in... So I created this one.

    I have two questions.

Is it Legal to use white out tape to correct minor errors in the logbook?

Is it Legal to drive at night with any lights on in the front of the cab by preference?

It's legal to drive with your foglights on all the time....

But only idiots and rookies do it!

White-out is legal, but with loose leaf, why do it? Just start a new log, looks neater, right?

I meant the lights inside the cab.... And my company doesn't do loose leaf logs... But thank you for your answers, much appreciated.

I don't know which company you are with, but when I started with Swift, the log books were not issued as loose leaf. However, I had a really good staple puller and hole puncher. I put it in a zip-up leather binder. Safety never asked to see my actual log book and when my DM saw it, he only nodded his approval.

Regarding lights inside the cab, I have not seen any specific laws for or against it. Some guys who drive at night run with that red light on. They say it helps them stay alert and keeps their eyes focused better. I have turned that red light on occasionally, but only briefly. No bear has ever turned a hair over it. At least not with me. Perhaps Mr. DieselBear may shed some light on this.

Each State may have there own rules for this. I don't get wrapped up about this, unless its a blue light that can be confused for a police light. In my STate no one can display a blue light except for a police officer.

As I am driving in Europe and visited US at July I noticed one big difference. In Eurpe most of the trucks have multiple extra head light installed and only ones I saw during my trip were in Canada. Is it illegal to have extra head light (high lights etc.) installed? It makes a HUGE difference in seeing if the light meam is 200 yards or 400 yards...
