If you know nothing about it, of course you don't need one. The shipper doesn't check. The broker could care less. Get pulled over in the wrong state and see what happens. VA, MA, NJ, IN, NC, TX, LA, FL are some states I remember. I'll check to be sure.

I tried to find an answer to each state. It would take all day. About half of them have rules for beer, wine and spirits individually or as a group. Some require the carriers to have a permit to come through their state. Some states have a permit that is attached to the bills.
Some states nothing. I'll call our company licensing and permit guy later. He can give me a quick answer.

i know ny has an permit for alcohol transporting--some how my truck got stuck with it--which meant a few short crappy hauls
not sure about the regs but i had one miserable dot officer in michigan tell me i couldnt log sleeper berth if i was in front part of truck--seems ridiculous to me tho--the curtains cover the windows as well and i didnt see a magic line drawn as to just where the sleeper portion starts and stops

I like your signature Bumpy. The pic is hilarious. It's the same here where I live. Spotlighting is a favorite past time for some.
