So briefly i drive class A for 4 days in the week, then on the 5th day i drive a bobtail 2 axle truck for the same company.
Do i log the 5th day as on duty or do i have to record the driving in the bobtail as well?
Thanks in advance

We have a similar situation at our company...we deal in sand & gravel trucking. 99% of the work is all transfer dump, loading at quarries, etc. But we do have a yard that stocks some material that can be delivered to homeowners in small amounts, better suited for homes in town. Anyway, that small dump truck is a Ford F800, and only a class C is required. That regular class C driver is not required to log. However, if he is sick, vacation, or whatever, us Class A guys step in. Since we are employed as Class A drivers, we are required to turn in a log for that day. We log it as on duty.
Here in CA, the law states that if you stay within a 100 mile radius, or work less than 12 hours, you do not need to "graph" your log book, but merely (for example) put a line from midnight to 6am, and drop down to line 4. Then leave the entire middle blank, and from line 4 at the end of the day, go up to line 1 and over to the end of the graph. In the middle notes area, we write 'local'. Thats how we do it!
And our logs are pre printed with our company name and have a designated box for the truck number we drove, so in that box is the bobtail dump's number.Irishtrucker Thanks this. -
in Illinois once you log one day you have to log the rest of the week if it is in commercial vehicle
