Alberta DOT violations become license demerits?

I heard a rumour a while back that non-moving violations may soon/now cause demerit points on an Alberta license? Anyone heard how far this has gone or is it already done?

If its law now will this go on an abstract? If this is so, then drivers better get after their employer about truck condition etc. Having a poor employer screw with a spotless abstract is very bad.
