Will I still have a safety audit for new DOT numbers even know my state inpection in MA is equal to a fmca inspection and I get a FMCA sticker when I get my inspection sticker? I just applied for dot number last night.

The audit that you go through will not have anything to do physically with the truck. It's an audit of your files, logs, record keeping, maintenance and compliance.

Edit in: I had mine done a year ago and it took about 2 hours. Make darn sure your stuff's in order. In most cases, this audit doesn't happen until after you've had your Authority for like 6-8 months.

OK cause I was going to say I don't even have my trailer yet I'm just getting my stuff in order. Long and short of it is I'm going to be hauling an exempt commodity (bagged wood shavings) from Maine to MA. So I need to keep a log book and fuel log and report my quarterly usage. correct?: so basically if I keep all my records straight, document everything I fix on the truck and have it all neatly prepared it will be a quick and painless thing? I have no employees and do not plan to, both my trucks (kw and my ford) are in good shape.

Make sure you have an employee file on yourself that includes a completed application, drug test authorization, the complete sheets from your DOT physical and there's more. Head over to DOT or FMSCA's website for the list. Better yet, join OOIDA and get info from them.

This guy just went through his New Entrant Audit. He is posting what he went through when he has time here . Doesn't matter what you will be hauling or where you will be going. You will be a new entrant and go through this.

what do you guys think on the IFTA sticker I'm leaving the state once to twice a month? I think remembering to file will get me. I personaly think permits would be easier at this point
