So, I guess in an accident, if someone else causes it, they don't have to pay for his injuries as he's not wearing a seatbelt?

I have never actually seen one by a driver of a CMV. I have had drivers on non CMV's present them a well as the window tint waiver. I have had a few driver's claim they have one but were never able to produce one. One fella was so decrepit that he should have never had a medical card to begin with. My guess was he forged it because he could barely get out of the truck and walk.

Seems like if I had a waiver from a law that was solidly mandatory in all 50 states... no matter what you're driving... I'd have a laminated copy in my wallet, and a printed version in my clipboard or briefcase...
Sounds like some horse hooey to me, sir.dieselbear and Meltom Thank this. -
I have heard of people getting them soon after having open heart surgery for driving a car.

Yes it is possible.Go 1st to lawwriter.com and lookup seatbelt laws. Most states allow Dr.s & Chiropractors to exempt you from wearing seatbelt.state law is the same as fed.under commercial fmc book.Fmc just states you cant get exempt for claustrophobia. Fmc has to be from having pace maker, scar from surgery or skelitol disorders not affecting your driving ability to safely operate vehicle. I have exempt letter present to Dr. doing physical for re-ap He writes in comments & health section you have exempt letter for seatbelt. Warning If you are company driver check with there rules 1st because company rule can be diff. from state law and you can end up with civil suit against employer and it gets ugly.

Can I get a waiver for being too fat? Im 5'2" and 750 pounds, I cant get a belt around me, I already put a smaller steering wheel on so my gut would not hit it (yes I do use arm extenders), I cut two seats and sewed them together. Of course I have an automatic transmission because my knees are so messed up from walking all the way to the fuel desk everyday.
Im getting an electric landing gear installed because I get tired doing all that aerobic work. If only I could get someone to unhook my airlines and pigtail....
