Here's what the state by state breakdown from the OOIDA is:

There was a Federal policy to allow 400 extra pounds, but it was NOT a mandate, so it is up to the individual state to decide.twowolves Thanks this. -
Why am I not surprised? -
florida told me they wont allow anything ether.

We had our first DOT inspection in March of 2011 and the inspector told me that it was a Federal DOT regulation to allow 400 lbs making your legal gross weight limit 80,400#. He stressed the point that Federal DOT regulations supercede state regulations and that 400 lbs was a for sure thing.

I wouldn't bet money on that.

I heard a rumor that states are planning on banning the use of diesel APUs without a particulate filter under their respective anti-idle laws. Like I said it was just a rumor.

1. Your APU must be operational.
2. You must carry a manufacturer's certification of the weight.
3. Your allowed the weight on the certification or 400 lb which ever is less.
The federal regulation only applies while on an the federal interstate system and STAA routes adjacent to the interstates.
In an earlier post, about 5 months ago, I quoted the date and regulation number. We, GTI, carried the info in our permit books with the weight certification.dirtyrabbit Thanks this.
