After I deliver a load of my own product this fall, I will be driving a 48' van across the country empty. I would like to pick up a load to offset the expenses. I would like to know what kind of permits I might need in order to legally do this work. Thanks for your help.

The only thing that you would need over a private carrier to carry a third party load is a MC# via FMCSA and cargo insurance...I do believe.

I wouldn't even bother to be honest with you.

If this is done wrong or even the slightest bit of damage occurs to the smallest piece of freight, it can take all the money you earned, or worse, away from you in an instant.

Swallow the cost and have a worry free drive and enjoy it.
