Not sure how you get your FSC, Only other thing I can think of if, I gret FSC on every mile loaded or empty, right now it's about .44cpm, shippers make an agreement on loaded miles only, this could be the difference you see in the FSC

    chalupa Thanks this.

The published YRC FSC is .61/ mile and the % is 50.48 of the billable freight , T/L only. Being said:

I use the co. comdata and get my fuel at about 1.25 / gallon plus the swipe charge. My neighbor does the same job for the same customers and gets 27% fsc / billables from a diff. carrier. We sit down and compare and he walks away with an avg. $250 to $300 more / week than I do.

The easy answer would be for me to move the truck....... but I can't , right now, they're in my arse pocket for awhile so I have to play nice.

That's the deal but I don't have to let them steal the FSC....if they are.

If you are leased to a company what does there lease agreement say. I was leased to a carrier once that changed there lease agreement to show they would pay you 74% of everything, line haul, fuel surcharge, tarp pay etc..... You either signed it or went down the road and it is legal.

I'll have to re-read it John. I don't think it says anything about FSC.

When a company advertises that they pay 100% Fuel Surcharge what exactly does that mean?

The FSC is intended to give the fuel purchaser an allowance for increased fuel prices over a base shipping charge . By rights 100% should always go to the one paying for the fuel but there is no regulation requiring this . Some brokers and carriers keep a portion of the FSC .
Carriers doing the right thing pay 100% .
Another thing some expedite carriers do is give preferred shippers a reduced FSC . In that case O/O's or fleet contracted drivers paying for fuel still get cheated when receiving 100%

Mercer claims to pass through all 100% of fuel surcharge.
I have some rates showing a FSC but who knows how many miles
they are charging for and wether it's ltl or tl fsc?
If the money equals what I want or need I take and don't worry about it
I rather negoiate total money at practical miles.
Opearting one or two trucks I don't see it affecting much.

The dot publish the fuel surcharge on one of their websites every tuesday morning. I used to keep up with it but now that i,m a company driver don,t fool with that. But to answer your question that is a recruiting gimmick, still need to check fed website for that week in question.
