Your probably good anyways with 6 months. I would'nt worry about it.
Check out page 3, Gyphone high lites the time lines for the type of test and substance.

I don't know all the companies that give them, but I can say JB Hunt, CR-England, and CRST do.
Your probably better off not working for either one of those companies anyways just becouse of the way they opperate.

If your ever really want to know ask the drivers wene you see them out on the road. More often than not, they be glad to tell you. You can also look up companies on You Tube, they got all kinds of info on there, especially for the bigger companies.

Ya, I believe that was post 28 on page 3. He says it's more or less what the normal detection times are that would be reported on test resualts.

I believe that there are 5 drinks that a truck driver cannot be busted for:

    1) coffee

    2) tea

    3) fruit juice

    4) milk

    5) soda

    6) water.

I believe that if one sticks to these 6 drinks, they are safe.

So the trick is, which one of these 6 will get you busted.

Gryphon, thank you for this useful thread. I would like to contribute to this thread with a suggestion that it would also be a place to update the increased use of Hair follicle testing by identifying the companies that use it as they become known. I would start a thread but I do not have enough posts.I detest the use of drugs or alcohol. As a strict civil libertarian I also detest the requirement of a test that can go back years regardless of what a company may say. I have watched this industry beat down the drivers pay and benefits while making the application process to become a driver far and away the most personally invasive of any industry. I have read extensively the usual banter and laugh at all the bumper sticker responses to this subject so save them if you got them. As of this writing I have personally confirmed with a phone call that the following companies do hair follicle testing:

    Roehl
    JB Hunt, Shaffer, Prime
    TMC
    Boyd
    CR England
    CRST
    Conway
    Schneider
    Knight
USA Truck (10 to 20% of students are tested during orientation)

I would hope that additions to this list are posted regularly as this trend is continuing. Remember: Though a hair follicle test is not "DOT" any company can report it to Hire Right which is equally damaging. The freedom to do what I want without either government or corporate interference until and unless I am on a clock and meet the same requirements as anyone else, is as important to me as God and my right to bear arms. If anyone can't see this issue as a violation of one's rights then you are an ignorant fool.

I agree with the freedom statement, but the test only checks for substances which are ILLEGAL (in most jurisdictions) to use. Yes, marijuana is legal to use in some areas of the United States, but since these companies operate in areas where it is not, then they do have the right to test for it and deny employment to those who test positive.

You do not have a right to use any of these substances until they are legal for use throughout the US.

A simple hypothetical: If I were to travel to Amsterdam, where it is legal to smoke pot and more, and smoked pot, I would be in violation for years upon my return. And I believe we would both agree that my vacation would have absolutely no impact on my abilities upon my return nor should that one use be able to impugn my character. I have the right to use any substance that is legal in the country where it is legal. I have the responsibility to perform my job unimpaired. Show me a law that says that you can not smoke pot in countries where it is legal. Until it is written I have done nothing illegal. Furthermore, your comment does not address the fact that the activity may have been done months before and would have no impact on an ability. A simple urine test is sufficient and anything more is beyond what is necessary.

You do not have a right to use any of these substances until they are legal for use throughout the US.

The law is flawed in multiple ways. For example, in addition to the obvious, the DOT tests do not screen for Xanax, one of the most widely abused prescription drugs on the market today. And just because it's a law doesn't make ti right, Many laws are antiquated and outdated such as what one does in the privacy of their own home, even using substances. There is no in-between, you're either for personal liberties in your home or you're not and if you're not, consider these still-current laws:
    \
-It's against the law in Willowdale, Oregon, for a husband to curse during sex

-In Oblong, Illinois, it's punishable by law to make love while hunting or fishing on your wedding day.

-In Ames, Iowa, a man isn't allowed to take more than three gulps of beer while lying in bed with his wife OR holding her in his arms.

-Sioux Falls, South Dakota has a law forbidding making love between two beds on the floor.

-Beeping the horn while getting it on in motor vehicle can result in jail time in Liberty Corner, NJ.

-In Oklahoma, oral sex is prohibited punishable by jail time.

Get the picture? What you do in your own home on your own time with a right to privacy is no one's business as long as it affects no one else.
