As we patiently wait for the ruling on the New Revised HOS,late last night i clicked on a section that seems to have lost its luster(The Strike Forum),actually had to blow the dust off of some of the threads LOL
But Im sure they are about to get heated up again when the ruling comes,if the ruling goes as it seems to have skewed to the position of PATT ,CRASH&TEAMSTERS,,,
So Im asking of you to answer the poll and comment as if they did pass as written
1.Driving hours from 11 to 10
2.Mandatory rest breaks
3.Mandatory EOBR
4.Revised 34 hr reset
Please refrain from the "what-if's" and "This is what should be dones",,,just comment on what YOU the Individual Driver
will do
What are you going to do? HOS ruling

I am not a driver anymore, but from an enforcement point of view I am going to have as hard a time with the new rules as you are. They are, so to speak, not user friendly.

bullhaulerswife and volvodriver01 Thank this.

I'm gonna wait and see....I doubt if they're gonna change much (if at all) and if they do? So what?
It won't be the end of the world....Just another stupid rule/law to figure out a way around.
I like running legal....But I'll swear these fools are gonna turn me back into a scofflaw!
I use the term "scofflaw" because most people mistakenly use the term "outlaw" to describe people that fudge their hours and such.
The term outlaw in trucking never had anything to do with that but the idiots these days believe it did.volvodriver01, American-Trucker, ECU51 and 3 others Thank this. -
11 to 10 hours doesn't bother me, I tend to limit driving to 9 hours currently.
Mandatory rest break after 7 hours of driving doesn't bother me, I typically pull over every 3 hours to walk the dog.
Mandatory EOBR doesn't bother me, my company is voluntarily installing them throughout the fleet.
Revised 34 doesn't bother me, works great for hometime. If my hours get a little low I will take 17 hours off every 3 days. -
The biggest problem is the 34 reset.
I can see a lot of drivers 'fudging' their logs to accomdate that reset.
For us that run at night, it's a nightmare.
As for the rest?
C'est la vie.Longshot34 Thanks this. -
I personally wouldn't have a problem with any of these proposal's other than the mandatory EOBR'S. My truck so stay out. Just my opinion. I have done just fine without the spyware so leave me alone.

Don't care what they do, I'll overcome and adapt. Hopefully enough people will get fed up and quit then maybe rates can go up.
Tazz and Onetruckpony Thank this. -
I will improvise, adapt and overcome. Its trucking.
If someone wasn't trying to make it harder for us. We wouldn't enjoy it soo much. -
Yep. I will learn to adapt as well. Been having to adapt to changes ever since they mandated the CDL. The same hoopla was raised over that. We survived. The best thing anyone can hope for is that the next election will put some folks in there that see the lunacy of this and step back. Besides, the new proposal does nothing about reducing driving time to 10 from 11.... it just says that the FMCSA is considering that move. I have read over the entire proposal several times. Everything else... 34 hr reset change, break before can drive more than 7 hrs, etc... is true. But I wouldn't get my panties in a wad just yet over the 11 driving. And remember..... we had no 34 hr reset from 1938 to 2003. We'll just go back to way we did it before.
