In my neck of the woods it's red at the back, amber on the sides and white in front. Some of our roof marker lights are green or amber.

Amber to the front and sides, red to the rear. White is appropriate in the front but, most not be directly visible to the rear.

I know in some states blue lights are illegal on anything except a police car .
An Indiana state law that took effect July 1 makes it illegal for anyone other than law enforcement agents to display red and blue lamps on a vehicle.

Here in the States you are allowed to run white lights and amber lights in the front. Amber to the sides, and red lights to the rear. Amber directional lights are also accepted at all points of the vehicle. As for the back of the cab, you can install any color you wish as long as they are not lit while on a publically traveled road. If you wish to use them while driving you are restricted to amber or red. Anything else you will run the risk of citation and consequently CSA points based on the officer's interpretation of the mandates.

The blue lights got their attention and the log book got me eight hours in the penalty box out back..

this was back in the mid 90's..
