If you read your letter it tells you that you have to submit a copy of your medical certificate within 6 weeks after you get the letter. The CDL DMV told me that the CDL will be no good for any vehicle but again we are gambling on what the true law says. Does it mean that we can no longer drive a CMV until we submit a medical card or does it completely go to no good. I wish that you will call the DMV and let us know. I'm curious to find out if they talk without the law.

No CDL disqualification affects your ability to operate a non-CDL vehicle.

Right or wrong, that's not what the DMV CDL person told me. That's why I asked for others to call and find out. She said the licence would be no good. It looks like we are going all kind of different answers even from the top. I think I'm going to just get my class "D" since I'll never drive again.

tennessee has already started this as well. i got the letter in october for my renewal this month. all i had to do was email TDOT a scanned PDF copy of the long form and med card along with the letter you have to sign that they send you. i sent it to the email address they provided in the letter then called them and made sure it was there. she updated the information while i was on the phone.
they state in the letter that if you fail to send them the new health card info, your CDL will be downgraded to a regular operators license. -
And I just got the dreaded, ridiculous letter. I am going up this week to get my medical card. Its 75 bucks without a drug test because I don't need one, no employer to send the results to. Drug test is a hundred bucks extra I think and I have no need for that. I want to get my HAZMAT endorsement anyway just in case I want I to go back into driving. There is a company I know around here that pays decent with Class B HAZMAT and I might want to give them a try at some point.

wow. the DOT physicals here are 38 bucks.
-
The cheapest I saw was 50 bucks around here, but I'm not sure I trust those cheaper places.

Walk in clinics tend to be the cheapest.
You can google "(your town, NJ) DOT physicals" and find them all in a 50 mile radius. -
$45 in Kingman, Az. Chiropracter...simple and easy.
