Would be very surprised that they would accept a certified letter. Most government offices refuse them.

This is a federal requirement and goes full effect Jan. 2014 they been delaying and delaying. I haven't checked into for Nc I keep getting letters and toss them away. But do they charge a fee for this? I mean my cdl is good for like 7years but the dot card is only good for 2years.

    Not been delaying it.

It has been going on in many states already. The states were given a deadline of January 1, 2014 when it came out.

There was a poster on here a few months back who mentioned North Carolina.

When I first got my letter last year, I went to the MI SoS office with all the things I was told to bring. I spent 45 minutes waiting in line and then got to the counter, showed the girl the letter I got and she looked puzzled then said she had to ask the assistant manager what it was all about - no one in the office, including the branch manager had a clue what the program was all about. When I got my renewal this year, that was the very first thing they asked for. IF I don't get my DOT physical yearly and get them a copy, they suspend my CDL and they make me go through the process of examines and road tests IF I don't put a suspension on it myself.

So, what is stopping you from filling out your own medical certification and emailing it in PDF?

I emailed the TxDPS CDL self certification program.

This is my email (with attachments):

    This was their reply:

I was on a 3 month temporary card for high blood pressure. I had to bring the Concentra clinic a letter (Concentra form) from my doctor stating that I was being treated, and BP is under control with medication.

I had to pass BP test, which I did (140 over 82) at the Concentra clinic where the company does employment physicals. I got a one year medical certification since I'm on medication. The one year card is from the original exam (5/28/2013). Not from when the temporary card expires (8/28/2013).

I sent husbands by mail with return signature receipt as proof hopefully on his if ever needed. You might want to check with the postoffice about the best way. I was reading on web that I think it was the certified letter is done like packages where it is in the system like packages for tracking purposes, don't know if you can get a confirm on delivery or how that works. The return receipt that is mailed back to you (the green card) sometimes gets returned and sometimes doesn't, it is according to the how the mail is handled at the other end.
