I bet 50 cents it was a private rig, not for hire and the driver did not have a cdl.

Hey-That is a heck of a private rig.It very well could be though I think not.I'm not super involved in the horse community.Nobody I know has anything that big for their own use.Mostly they are one ton duallys with a living quarter 3 or 4 horse trailer.I sure wouldn't want anything that big for my horses.Take care.Brian

The Brothers who own and run Misty Hills Farms, Inc. (MHF, Inc.) used to have their own private rig and trailer for their horses. Full on International Class 8 rig and a trailer nicer than some of the high end RVs I've seen, all for the horses.

Not sure about other states, but just to pull a large livestock trailer with a a 1 ton dually, you can bet the CMV enforcement boys will pull one over now and then and check things. They went on a rampage a couple of years ago down by Kalona, Iowa, a major horse trading area, and were busting drivers right and left for not having a CDL and doing major vehicle inspections. The basis for this? The State Police deemed that the trading of livestock is commerce and therefore hauling them required a CDL if gross vehicle combination greater than 10,000 lb. Most of the vehicles were from out of state, so that further enhanced the State Police argument that the vehicles are being used for interstate commerce. CDL required.

Right or Wrong? I don't know. Haven't given it a lot of thought since it went down. But that is not the only incident.

So a westbound and an eastbound vehicle collided and the person who commented on the article blames the trailer ? logic fail.

So, in his blog, it's the trailer's fault that HE ran into it. Somebody ought to yank his license for life.
