However Congress is or was working on a new law change the would allow each state to not violate Federal Laws if that State approves legalizing something like marijuana.

I will not risk being in the same area of it, nor be exposed. I can be in the house for a half hour waiting sometimes. It is not worth it to me. I volunteer for free, I live off my license.

Therefore, I may be over kill, but not going to risk it.

I've heard of this before happening. I have neighbors in my apt complex that smoke weed and it goes through the walls. Sometimes being around it can go into your system?

I know that. It's like fireworks, only reversed. The Feds say any type of 1.4g, formally known as Class C Common fireworks, are allowed in any state. However, states can allow or not allow said fireworks.

    I do not know.

I know that if I go to a bar where they smoke, my clothes smell of smoke. My lungs hurt from the smoke of the cigarettes.

When I have been in a house where pot is, my clothes reek, so why would I not be breathing the same as the cigarettes.

Second-hand smoke is supposed to be not possible to show up in a U.A. I'm not convinced myself. Ancient peoples used to go into structures similar to sweatlodges, place hot rocks inside then throw whole pot plants onto the rocks and stay inside until they started having visions. I would not risk getting exposed to pot via second-hand smoke. It is not worth it.
Besides, our Government lies to us from time to time, so what can some of us believe?

You seem to think you have a right to a job tomorrow that you have today.

You don't, except under a few limited circumstances, that vary slightly depending on the state. You cannot be fired because of your age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, and in some states your sexual orientation.

If you are my employee, in most states I can fire you any time I like for anything I like except those limited and specific reasons. Once you are hired as my employee I am not obligated to continue our relationship one second past the time I decide it is no longer in my interest to do so.

You do not have a '"right" a job.

I would think "company policy" would trump both laws. If they don't want you smoking it they can terminate your employment.

exactly company policy trumps any law it is the terms you agreed upon when you got hired.

but to OP even if it is legal in a certain state it doesnt matter as the trucking industry is controlled by the Government not by the state in which you reside, and as medic said alcohol is legal as well but it is also illegal to drink and drive (DUI DWI) the same law does include any medicines that impair your driving ability it is not only alcoholic beverages. since there is no current way to detect when one smoked it. the current rules are standard and cannot be unproven beside personal say so which commonly doesnt fly in any court room. there are loop holes in the law that can get you out of convictions for marijuana indica vs sativa the law states cannabis Sativa is illegal but doesnt say anything about indica which is a different strain of marijuana. as far as i know there is no way to detect the different strains in the urine, hair or blood as it is all broken down into THC when it goes through the body.

@medic it is your choice not to enter said dwelling but in that medical profession are you also bound by the law to help others in medical need not sure if that oath is taken by a medical transport. second hand cigerette smoke is a little different than second hand marijuana smoke you would have to be in a heavily filled smoke area for some time before you would get enough in your system to register in UA tests. but i agree with not wanting to take the chance considering its your lively hood that could be in jeopardy.
