Lots of confusing company policy for FMCSA rules in this thread.

Many carriers set rules that are beyond FMCSR stipulation . They have the right to do this . You have the right to find a more sensible carrier . Carriers that have drivers log unnecessary on duty hours like this usually give drivers less miles than others .

There is no limit on the number of ODND hours you can work . You just can't drive after the 14th hour without a 10 hour break .

You were told wrong . Pay doesn't matter . Responsibility does . "Relieved of responsibility " is off duty and you can be paid for it . I have been paid during 10 hour breaks . I have been paid detention time while a truck was unloaded but I had to leave the area and I was allowed to log off duty .

Correct. There is an Interpretation that states there is no correlation between pay and duty status. I would post a link, but I am on my phone. I have posted it many times previously though and it isn't hard to find.
