Prior to the new mandatory 30 minute break provision going into effect on July 01, I was hearing all kinds of, "The sky is going to fall..." comments and conjecture from different corners of the trucking industry.
I realize that only a small number of truckers actually even read this forum, much less post on it, however, I thought it would be interesting to provide a thread where drivers could actually post real examples of how this rule has affected in a negative way your driving production, etc.
1. Was anyone late for a pick-up or delivery because of this rule last week?
2. Did anyone experience a problem with finding a parking spot to take your 30 minute break?
3. Did anyone notice an increased flow of truck traffic into rest areas and truck stop parking lots because more drivers were stopping to take their 30 minute break?
4. Was anyone's normal daily mileage production cut short because of this rule?
For me, the answer is no on all of those questions. Questions that arise from all of the speculation I heard for weeks prior to this rule going into effect.

Why start another thread when the thread you linked this on contains the same information?
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
No to all of the above.
SO FAR.
But the point is, all of these problems WILL happen, probably to every one of us, at some point. Take that to the bank. The only question is how often this stuff is going to happen.Dorsey and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
I have four specific questions that I'm hoping drivers can answer related to the majority of comments I heard about how this rule was going to negatively effect our industry. If you don't have anything to add, don't sweat it. If a moderator feels my posting is unnecessary, they can always delete the link I submitted on the other thread. I won't lose any sleep over it After all, redundancy is a trademark of this forum.

I agree that any of the questions I'm asking can and probably will happen. My suspicion is that it probably won't happen as frequently as some have conjectured.

The only thing I've noticed is a bit more congestion in the rest areas....that could have been because of the holiday as well
Scooter Jones and airforcetoo Thank this. -

I have a good friend that works for Swift. He told me yesterday that he personally knows 11 drivers there that quit on July 01 because of these new rules. I suspect that they didn't all quit the trucking industry as much as they went to companies that are using paper logs
