CA clean idle

there's a little box under the truck. it's called a catalyst filter. and it ties into the exhaust.

that box makes it clean air certified. all they gotta do is cxrawl under and look.

there's also the VIN of your truck.

you can't fool DOT.

i also heard that they have sensors for your exhaust. so if you took out the filter. they'd know. no need to stick a sniffer down your pipe.
don't know if it's true. but anything is possible.

i know colorado has sensors on the highway in denver. it senses your car driving with the check engine light on. you get a fix it ticket. i've seen one van hanging around.

there's been talks of newer cars having ecms that can relay that information to road sensors. there would no be the standard emissions test.

 

I read a story in Landline magazine awhile back. It said that CARB was measuring emissions from Reefer units at truck stops. Not sure how accurate it all was but if they're willing to do this the sticker plan won't fool them for long. I'm glad you researched though, I thought about the sane thing!

 

I think I will put a smiley face sticker on my truck. Then the dot/carb guys will be so happy they will just give me a clean inspection and a cvsa sticker for my windshield.

The sticker will need to have the barcode that matches your truck. Look closely at one next time.

wonder if that sticker is an emissions requirement. so if the hood got replaced for whateer reason. it would have to get a new sticker.

if a car got a new hood. they didn't come with the sticker. but they didn't have barcodes either.

 

I don't think the sticker is required, just helpful for the Commie Arsehole Redtape Board to easily identify who can idle and who must suffer.

AFAIK the only other state that uses the sticker as indicating the truck is exempt from their idling restrictions is Pennsylvania.
