I have read through most of the new HOS threads and still don't understand completely if I'm legal.
I work Monday through Friday, 12am start time and 2pm finish, with a 30 min break around the 6th hour.
This satisfies both the 30 min break rule, and the 1am to 5am off for two days, correct? Is there anything else I should be doing to be legal?
Rant:
These hours of service rules are so convoluted and asinine. In particular, the 30 min break, while being an inner-city route driver, really irks me. So now I find myself staring out the windshield in a parking lot or side street, being an inconvenience to the general public while festering in anger, burning fuel, and doing absolutely nothing productive.
This only adds 30 min to my route, and takes away 30 min from the time I actually rest. Counter-productive at the least.
Ray LaHood and Ann Ferro can go to hell.
HOS- don't understand the new regs, and a micro-rant.

I wish I could do it while at a stop, but my stops are less than 10 min and blocking parking lots, so I gotta get in and out quick, then search for a suitable parking place.

The court, with one exception, upheld the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) 2011 rules for drivers' hours of service, known in the trade as HOS. The court overturned a FMCSA provision requiring a 30-minute break for short-haul drivers, defined in this instance as local delivery drivers such as those working for companies like FedEx Corp. and UPS Inc.
