I found a deal on loose leaf log books. The product is JJK 8542. They have no DVIR as far as I can see. It might be on the back but there's no pic of the back and no mention of it.
My guess is they are OK, after all JJ Keller makes 'em that way. Just never used one with no DVIR in all my years.
Anyway the deal is $.16/100 at ryderfleetproducts dot com.
The only good thing about ELDs is everyone is liquidating the paper logs.
Edit: When I went to buy them they are $16/100 in the cart. They tricked me!
Are log books with no DVIR legal to use?

I use them. I have a separate homemade inspection sheet that I use.
crb and Semi Crazy Thank this. -
We use inspection books, which substitute for the dvir included on the logs, The carbonless didn't work as well and was messier with the few I used that went both ways, and tearing out the carbon to use it the other way was something I have never had to do as we have been using the books since 2006. It's been so long since I used loose leaf at another company that I can't remember if we had carbons or dvir there or not.
Keller prints those books with the company info pre-printed on them, too.
On edit, we use 8542 logs, too, pre-printed with company name and main office address. -
gpsman Thanks this.

As stated above yes, you can have a separate log & DVIR.
Some companies choose them because if a company only has one truck, they are not required to have a DVIR. Only companies with two or more trucks are required to fill out a DVIR for each truck. (If I am wrong, I welcome your correction) -
The company/carrier is limited to one trailer (or one doubles/triples set) for the DVIR exemption, otherwise they have to fill out a daily DVIR.Grumppy Thanks this. -
Well I ordered 15 of the 31 day log books and a DVIR book since that new law requires a DVIR only if there is a defect.
The loose leafs were more expensive. -
As far as I'm aware there that law about only requiring a DVIR if there were defects hasn't been written yet only discussed.
