Hell most of the border are down, the EU encourages that sort of behavior when it comes to trade in the EU.
The EU is a loose (tighter since 2005) confederation of countries. They saw too it that the trade tarrifs were reduced if not eliminated, meaning prices came down over 6,000 square miles of habitated area on regular goods produced in 20 separate nations.

Speaking of which; anyone have any Ikea meatballs lately? They taste a bit like horse. :biggrin_2552:

At any rate, Tomasz has a point; the laws regarding Canadian and US driver should be loosened, considering we're completely on par regarding requirements, regulations ect.

  4. to me i don't care , i see the train with about 100 wagons carts every time carrying double stacked sea cans all the time so i think there is enough work for everybody ,
maybe the government of canada wouldn't allow this american truck drivers delivering canada to canada , i don't know ,

I think we've all had enough of corporate America telling us we do to work hard enough and we deserve less while they take in the biggest profits they ever have and they ship jobs overseas and say "We love America!" No thanks. Not giving them an easier route to ship what's left out.

No, not really. Tomasz is part of the problem. And don't take it the wrong way, but Canada, like the US, has this thing of bringing in drivers from the Eastern European countries to drive down driver wages. Look at Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, etc. Many Polish, Russian, Czech drivers. Doing it for less money and it's no different in BC and Ontario. It's outsourcing without actually outsourcing. I'm not saying they aren't good people, but this is what's going on and many refuse to follow our laws and want to see us become more like the EU.

No you're wrong. We don't make anything because it's all been shipped out. You don't know about the Bethlehem Steel. Best steel made in the world. They are closed because of foreign made steel that was cheaper.

It's a sticky topic, that's your opinion. I don't want to see outsourced/insourced labor, but honestly why are you worried about Eastern European drivers coming in and taking jobs while companies like Swift are throwing seat warmers in trucks?
Seems the priority level on that got a bit turned around.

Nike is crap, why would you ever buy that brand?
You fell prey to advertisement, branding and marketing; it's what our culture does best.

Get yourself a good pair of red-wings.
