That's big government being bedded by crony capitalism. Somebody got a nice "gift" and some industry got some regulatory relief. "win-win". Same can be said for obamacare.

They do that every winter when there is a demand for heating products and bad weather hampering deliveries.

That's the point the oil companies rely on these exceptions.... So they don't hire enough help to do the job and keep to the hos.....

Truckload carriers from all over are having troubles making appointments and running efficiently in the NE. The people there want their meat and vegetables and booze/beer and the carrier will just have to figure it out. Apparantly the truckload carrier's lobby is not as effective as the heating oil delivery lobby

There used to be a lot of jobs for hired trucks in the winter doing oil & propane. But the last 5-10 years the companies have cut way down....?

This exemption only applied to home heating oil trucks. The oil companies have nothing to do with this. Don't you think the lay-offs and cutting back of home heating trucks are a result of homes switching over to natural Gas? Besides that, just about all home heating trucks are small and are not semi's. So I don't see where your beef is other to make a stand against oil companies. A misinformed one at that.

I read a press release yesterday that this exemption was for propane haulers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and I think Illinois because of the lack of transportation (propane pipeline is down) for propane in those states. To be exact Walker, the governor of Wisconsin was on tv talking about the shortage and the increase in propane prices from 2 to 5 bucks.

How do you think the 2oil gets from the terminals to the heating oil dealers ? By semi tankers ..........that's how.

And the oil racks at the terminals are a joke. Last week I was at a terminal and the price was going up at 100pm. Guess what at 1230 pm with the yard full of trucks they shut the racks down. Computer problems or so they said .
105 pm problem solved...... Load up @ .07 cents more per gallon. Coincidence .....?

I do bulk plants all winter long, since Christmas the oil industry has been exempt from the hos. That other segments of the trucking industry have to deal with..

    that's my beef.
