I'm not sure if numbering is a real word or not but it helps to explain my question. I need to replace the numbers on my trailer. All I see is black. Is that because it's DOT regs or just what everyone does. Can I go some other color or have them air brushed on. Thanks in advance.

I've seen red, green, and various other colors of numbers on trailers.

As long as it is legible and the correct size, if memory serves the info on the door Name Address DOT # has to be 3" tall and of a contrasting color.
-
Ya I know but I'm wondering about the trailer. Not tractor. Is it the same.
-
Trailer doesn't matter what size or color for DOT
-
I'm not sure the trailer has to say anything on it at all, aside from the 53' on trailers of that size. A lot of trailers at the place I'm leased to only say the trailer number and "53'" on them.

The only think I know of is that no marking can be of such a design that it could be confused with a HM placard.
