Well I don't feel like reading all of that, but I know an easy change is to allow four hours off duty, since it takes most places 3 hours to load/unload you so all of your free time is sucked up. Get rid of the 1 to 5 am 34 hour restart, I haven't had a restart in about four months since the company just has me drive every day now. The biggest change would allow a 30 minute "move" window for places where we cannot park near the receiver/shipper without affecting our restart.
I know a new rule that would greatly help, instead of new rules for drivers, how about new rules for all shippers/receivers? Such as allowing more than enough time to deliver a load, and if we want to rush over to get there early that is our choice. There were times when I arrived at a Tyson for a 5pm appointment, delayed for 8 hours, had to leave at 1AM and get to the receiver 10 hours away for a noon appointment.
I was never tired after a run where I had time to take my own breaks. My favorite run is where they always give us two extra days to travel across the US, and it must be reverse psychology since I always arrive two days earlier.MCR6468 Thanks this. -
OK I read most of that, I would have signed the petition but didn't want to give all of my personal information.

Oh wow a socialist moderator deleted my post about not wanting Obama to see my petition?

The Government can make a mint fining all shippers and receivers for long unnecessary delays . Especially in the Refer division , some places take almost all day to load & unload .
I would like to see it go back to the 8/10/5 rule . It was working well back then . -

How about this proposal.
8 hours max driving within a 12 hour window.
12 hour mandatory break.
56 hours maximum per 7 day period.
Much safer than the current regulations.
Ya' might think of it like the way a human being might work. Not an animal.
I know us people that drive trucks (truck drivers) are sub-human but we should at least be treated as good as a dog.
Some might say "How am I suppose to make any money only driving that much?"
Increase of pay per mile, that's how.
