I googled each states toll chart and roughly added in my head. It's not exact but close. I think the PA turnpike was up to $101 and the connector and bridge over to the NJ turnpike raised it to around $130. Something like that. I picked a route I knew would be high is why I threw in a Philly drop. :)

what I will love is to have is one multifrecuency transponder for ALL toll roads and bridges on every state with a digital display showing how much you are being charge..

I don't need the display just one transponder. I'm about to order a bestpass which takes the place of a few, but I would love just one transponder that works on every toll road.

i don't see any reason for tolls myself. it's just a method to pocket the states coffers.

road maintanance. HMPH. most of this country don't have toll roads. and they keep up with their roads just as lousy as the toll states.

california bankruptcy. with the amount of toll money they collect on 3 bridges leading up to the 80. ALONE.
$5. per car. each trip north. and them 3 bridges are packed with traffic. PLUS $25 for trucks.

The problem is that even though the idea is to keep your % margin in reality over time your input costs get so high you start losing % margin.
You may get what you pay on tolls back but to put your margin on top of this increase every time they rise or fuel rises is difficult.
If you look over the last 20 years the % margin has shrunk.
You need more cash flow and money invested to get the same amount profit.

if $25 bothers you, the $85 GW bridge in NY plus the $13 New Rochelle toll ten miles away will drive you bananas

this is after you have already kicked out about $200 coming from Maryland thru Jersey

The one that bugs me is that short section in IL where I-294 and I-80 run together. By all FHWA standards a 3 digit interstate number is a bypass around a city or a spur. It has a beginning and end. IL is not allowed to toll I-80 because of federal funding and I-294 should end where it meets I-80. Yet the crooks to get around that call that short section I-80/I-294 so they can collect the small toll on the highly traveled interstate regarding it as part of I-294 when really it's not. It's only $3 but it the thought that counts. :)
