That's not in the "Green Book"....
Why does OR require OD/OS banners to be 8' long instead of DOT approved 7' long banners in their jurisdiction?...
That's not in the "Green Book" either....Mr&MrsPete Thanks this. -
You have got to be kidding! The U.S. Congress is never going to make the US EPA go away. EVERYONE wants clean air. The US EPA and CARB have identified that Diesel particulate matter is the biggest contributor to asthma and thousands of premature deaths. Do you really think some elected official is gonna stand up and stay interstate commerce is more important than that? If you boycott California trust me the mega carriers will take your place. Problem is the US government knows it. Sad as that may be

OK when you repeat the same old line about asthma and deaths, it seems that there is a list of talking points that has been created to counter any opposition for realistic controls on pollution. It also begs the question what has taken municipalities so long to get a grip on their transportation systems because the DPM isn't from trucks in these cities but rather buses that run daily in the cities. Also thikning about it, why wasn't there a spike in death and asthma related issues in the first part of the 20th century, when air quality was really poor (with particulate matter being really high from coal and wood burning heating systems, plus industries who used coal and wood in those areas)? Asthma seems to be on the increase now, not then and it could be diet and lifestyle than it could be from air pollution - just saying because we don't know.
The same goes for cancer rates, lung cancer is increasing every year but people are living in cleaner environments ... or are they?
The mega carriers will eventually have the same issues and if they have customers who stop using them because they support CARB, then that is alright with me. The problem for me isn't the issue of CARB, it is the issue of my state being told what to do by California who has no right to do so. So for now not one of my trucks takes loads into California, the company they are leased to know why and I know that OOIDA will win because there is too much at stake for the feds.
Nope, according to the EPA (here in Ann Arbor), their standards are derived by agreement by several groups - no one regulation is based on a state regulation. -
CARB regs are legal....Like it or not...Ever hear of the 10th Amendment?
