My Boyfriend is getting his med card exam today and the Doctor will not give him the card until the drug test comes back and then they will mail it to his company. Is this right and if it is not where do I go to find the regulations on it

why did he have to take a drug test to get his dot med card? a drug test is not required unless the doctor was alerted about drugs,is there more to this story. unless the new company is paying and they just wanted to get the drug test out of the way while he was there. i would call his safety dept. and ask them, however if you are not married they might not tell you.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
china town see you are on this thread did i answer her question correct?

If this is the medical card he's using for the company hes starting at then it makes perfect since to wait for the drug results to come back.Your boyfriend did the test now and won't need to once he starts with the company sounds like to me.

that's how it is every time u start a new job.they have to do a drug screen and send it to the feds and the results are sent to the company.they do this while u r at he clinic taking ur physical.nothing new here

However, in your boyfriends situation, it sounds to me that the medical facility that conducted the exam is contracted by his prospective employer and if that is the case, and he is a new hire, then, he also received a Drug Screen in addition to everything else. -
The doctor has to give you a copy if you request it. Companies try to pull that stuff all the time because they don't want you using something they paid for somewhere else. The doctors play along with the company because they send them business. With HIPPA you have full access to your medical records.
DOT drug tests and DOT physicals are two completely separate programs.
I'll go to the FMCSA website and find it here in a minute. -

Sounds like a pre-employment physical to me--and they DO require a drug screen
