Yeah your right. But the driver needs to inform dispatch not to dispatch him.

the 34 is a nice bonus to the 63 years hos. you don't HAVE to use it. but it's nice to not have to recap.

other then that. they should have left well enough alone in the first place. after 63 years there was no need to change ANYTHING.

As much as I would like to agree totally, the 2004 rule gave us the restart, and it also gave us an additional hour of drive time. I know, 10/15/8 was nice and it gave flexibility, but what they gave us wasn't exactly horrible.

but she uses that to mislead the public into thinking that the norm instead of 70 in 8 days being the max.

there are in reality very few people who max the clock out at 82 hours in a week, its akin to winning the lottery, it can be done, but a very microscopic amount of folks ever do.

True, but my comment was to show that the other poster was in error. I do not support the person and her views.

why is the restart and an additional hour of drive time a good thing?? I haven't done a restart since april 26th , I had my best month in may in 4 years recapping the entire time, its rare to take a ten hour break, mine average 12 to 14 hours, and frankly I never really need a restart.

these megas have trained guys to think they need maximum hours to make a check, they put on them 34 hours and shoot em out the door again for 70. its like a army of trained white rats

I see that, but in essence and reality her comment is actually a lie. its one of those technically shes right, but in common practice dead wrong. with her spin a run for congress may be in her future, lol

Good for you that you don't take restarts. I don't take them either much. But it's nice to have that tool at my disposal if I could use it. I don't need restarts. You're confusing yourself with people WANTING a restart.

There are so many other factors relating to the " crash stats ". By claiming drivers are tired is an assumption. The way I see it, when a driver screws up ( including the 4-wheel driver) it usually has to do with conditions moments before, wet roads, snow and ice, storms and just poor judgement. Accidents are preventable only and when common sense is applied, ( like slowing down during a hard rain). I am convinced that speed is the number one factor of collisions with other objects. Why are there so many rear end collisions?
